Thank you for your interest in the MassDOT Developers Conference.  We hope to see you tomorrow, Saturday, November 14th at MIT's Tang Center.  The event starts promptly at 11am.  Please arrive early to allow for check-in and to find a seat -- we are at capacity and seating may be very limited.

Big News: We have some exciting news to announce tomorrow! But you must attend if you want to be the first to find out...

Directions:  The main entrance to the Tang Center is at the intersection of Amherst and Wadsworth Street in Cambridge.  Parking is limited and we strongly recommend walking, biking, or taking public transportation!  The Tang Center is about two blocks (.2 miles) from the Kendall Square stop on the MBTA's Red Line.

Tickets: While Eventbrite sent you a ticket for the event, they are not required for attendance.  So, please do not worry if you forget your ticket!

Lunch: MassDOT has a very limited budget for this event -- but we are trying to be proper hosts!  We will provide pizza and limited beverages for the lunch period.  Please bring snacks or pack a lunch if you have dietary preferences or restrictions that we are unable to accommodate.  Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for understanding.

Technical Details: The Tang Center has free wi-fi.  Bring a laptop!  We will be crowd-sourcing notes from the event.  The hashtag for the Conference is #massdotdev.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is hosting a Developers Conference, free and open to the public, at the Tang Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on November 14th, 2009.

The Conference is free and open to the public. It will include plenary sessions featuring speakers from the transportation and technology community, and breakout sessions, where developers can meet to discuss MassDOT’s data and what applications they are working on. The Conference will also include training sessions for the Regional Transit Authorities, which provide transit services outside of Greater Boston, to help those agencies maintain their data in open and available formats on the Developers Page.

The Conference will build on MassDOT’s historic step toward openness and transparency started by the creation of the MassDOT Developers Page. To learn more about the MassDOT Developers Page, check out the following slideshow:

The Executive Office of Transportation and Public Works (EOTPW) has direct oversight of the Massachusetts Highway Department and the Registry of Motor Vehicles.  The Secretary of Transportation, who leads EOT, serves as the Chair of the MBTA Board of Directors, the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, and the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission.

In July 2009, EOT launched a Developers Page meant to serve as resources for developers interested in working with real-time and static transportation data made available by the Executive Office of Transportation and its family of agencies.
